Fête de la Transhumance (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence)
Traditionally celebrated in spring, usually in May, the shepherds of the Alpilles celebrate the ancestral tradition of transhumance in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence by leading their flocks through the green hills. It’s the perfect opportunity for visitors to discover the region’s pastoral customs, accompanied by folk dancing and tastings of local produce.
The Glanum Festival (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence)
From July 18 to 22, the Glanum Festival hosts concerts, shows and ballets on the archaeological site of the ancient Roman city of Glanum. In this exceptional setting amidst Roman remains, the magic of which is brought to life by the scenography of light, this year’s highlights include a contemporary version of the ballet Carmen, the Sirba Octet ensemble performing a blend of music from Ashkenazi, Armenian and Gypsy Jewish traditions, a concert by soprano Pretty Yende, and a closing symphony concert.

Usually held during the summer, from June to August, these annual festivals feature classical and jazz concerts in iconic Alpilles locations, such as historic churches and picturesque châteaux in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Saint-Rémy-de-Provence Jazz Festival
Held on the third weekend in September, Jazz à Saint-Rémy is sure to delight jazz, swing and world music lovers.

Les Carrières de Lumière (Les Baux-de-Provence)
Nestled at the foot of the Alpilles mountains, Les Carrières de Lumière in Les Baux-de-Provence offers a unique immersive artistic experience. Every year, these ancient stone quarries are transformed into a breathtaking audiovisual spectacle, projecting the works of famous artists onto the immense rock faces.
